Meet The Team

With the help of an amazing translation team, Cheryl B. Evans brings I Promised Not to Tell: Raising a transgender child to readers in multiple languages.

              Mariana Horrisberger
              Spanish Translator

This is Mariana, the translator of the Spanish version of I promised Not to Tell: Raising a transgender child. She has studied English Language and Literature Translation in her hometown University, UNLP, in Argentina, to exploit her love for languages and her desire to help bring different cultures closer. After finishing her studies, she set out to blend with the locals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for almost two years. She wants to live temporarily in different cities to enrich her cultural background and be as accurate as possible in her translations. A tireless traveler, Mariana manages to put both her passions together by translating from different parts of the world. She has finished translating I Promised Not to Tell in the beautiful, open-minded city of San Francisco, California (USA).

She is not afraid to show how proud she is to have a book like this one be her first published translation, especially because she thinks it can have a major impact in the Spanish-speaking LGBT communities across Latin America. She got so emotionally involved with the book that she went voiceless for two weeks while translating the harshest chapters. Mariana, as does Cheryl, truly believes that if her translation can help at least one person in their gender struggle, then it was all worth it.
